SD card upload problems, message by message

Upload problems usually come down to a few causes: the wrong folder, a browser that hands over no files, a browser running short of memory, a card that came loose, or a device AirwayLab does not read yet. This page lists the messages AirwayLab shows during an upload, what each one means and what to try next.

Pick the SD card itself

AirwayLab reads the whole card, not one file or one night. On a computer, choose the SD card itself, the top level that holds the DATALOG folder and STR.edf. A single file is refused. Picking only the DATALOG folder still loads your nights, but AirwayLab then warns that it found no STR.edf settings file and no Identification file, so your mode, pressure settings and device model stay blank. Select the card root to get all of it.

Not sure where the card sits in your machine? The device guides show it for each model they cover.

When nights are missing

Three things commonly explain a gap. A date filter on the dashboard can hide nights: if you see "No nights in this date range", choose Clear date filter. A night with very little recording on the card may be left out. And if an upload was interrupted, AirwayLab says how many nights were saved and asks you to select the same card again to continue with the rest.

Once your data is in, how to read what your data shows explains the numbers.

When the upload stops

If the browser runs out of memory, the card is pulled out mid-read or a file cannot be read, AirwayLab stops and says so on screen. The questions below cover each message.

If none of these match what you see, contact us and describe the message on screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "No EDF files found" mean in AirwayLab?

AirwayLab shows "No EDF files found. Make sure you selected the SD card root, not a subfolder." when the folder you picked has a DATALOG folder but none of the nightly recording files your machine writes. Check that you picked the SD card itself and that your machine has recorded at least one night on it, then upload again.

Why does AirwayLab say my folder does not look like a ResMed SD card?

AirwayLab shows this when the folder you picked holds EDF files but no DATALOG subfolder, where a ResMed card keeps its nightly recordings. It usually means a folder inside the card, or a copy of only some files, was picked. Select the SD card itself and upload again.

Why are some nights missing after an AirwayLab upload?

Missing nights in AirwayLab have three common causes. A dashboard date filter can hide them: "No nights in this date range" means a filter is on, and Clear date filter removes it. A night with very little recording may be left out. An interrupted upload saves part of the card, and AirwayLab asks you to select the same card again.

What does "No STR.edf settings file found" mean?

You see "No STR.edf settings file found" as a warning, and the upload still continues. It means your mode, pressure and therapy settings will not appear in your results. STR.edf sits at the SD card root, not inside the DATALOG folder, so select the whole card rather than only DATALOG and upload again.

What if AirwayLab says the flow files are too small?

The too-small warning appears when AirwayLab finds flow data files but they hold too little recording to analyse: under 50 KB per file, or roughly under 17 minutes of recording. It happens when a card holds only very short sessions, for example a quick mask test. Try again with a card that has at least one longer night on it.

What should I do if the browser runs out of memory during an AirwayLab upload?

AirwayLab shows "Analysis stopped responding. The browser most likely ran out of memory. Close other browser tabs and try again." when analysing your SD card needs more memory than the browser has free. Close other browser tabs, then select the card again. AirwayLab already splits large cards into smaller batches by itself, so no setting needs changing.

What if the SD card was removed while uploading to AirwayLab?

AirwayLab shows "The SD card disconnected" when the card was removed or became unavailable during an upload. Check that it is seated firmly in the reader, or re-insert it, then select the card and try again. If some nights were saved before the interruption, AirwayLab says how many and asks you to select the same card again.

What if a file on my SD card is corrupt or cannot be read?

If AirwayLab finds flow files on your SD card but cannot parse any of them, it says the files may be corrupted or in an unsupported format. Try re-copying the files from your SD card to your computer and upload again. If the same message comes back, use the contact page and describe the message you see.

Does AirwayLab work on a Chromebook, phone or tablet?

AirwayLab runs in the browser, and its accessibility page lists the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. On a phone or tablet the picker takes individual data files, not a whole SD card folder, so a computer with a card reader is the simpler route. A Chromebook with Chrome works like a laptop.

What does "No files came through" mean in AirwayLab?

AirwayLab shows "No files came through" when the browser handed over an empty selection from the SD card. If the browser asked whether to upload the files, choose Upload, then pick the SD card folder again. In Firefox, open the SD card, select everything inside it and drag it onto the upload box.

My device is not supported by AirwayLab yet. What can I do?

AirwayLab shows "This SD card format is not recognised" for cards it cannot read yet, and a form called "Device not yet supported" lets you tell us about the device. The form sends the number of files, the file types and the total size, plus an optional device name and email. Sending it is not a promise that support will follow.
