Why Isn't My CPAP Data Showing?

When a night is missing from your CPAP app, the machine may not have sent it. ResMed's help pages list weak signal, Airplane Mode, an unplugged power cord and switching off too soon as reasons [S1][S6]. The AirSense 10 manual says the SD card also contains your therapy data [S7].

Why nights go missing from the app

We describe ResMed machines here, because we could quote ResMed's own help pages and manual. The help pages we quote are ResMed's Asia Pacific support pages, so details may differ in your region. ResMed says a machine may not send data to myAir for several reasons [S1]. These are the points its help pages and manual name.

  • Finish and stay on. Data is sent after your therapy is complete and the machine has stopped blowing air, as long as it stays plugged in, is not in Airplane Mode and has enough mobile signal. ResMed says it sends one hour after you stop therapy [S3]. ResMed's checklists ask whether you switch the machine off too quickly in the morning, and say to keep it powered on for at least an hour after you wake up [S1][S6].
  • Signal strength. ResMed says three to five green bars is a strong signal, and fewer than three may not be strong enough to send your therapy data. The machine needs a cellular network to send it [S1].
  • Delay. It can take several hours before the data shows on your myAir dashboard [S3].
  • Account details. Check that the serial on your machine matches the one registered in myAir. If you now use a different machine from the one you entered when you created your account, ResMed says to change the serial and device numbers in your myAir account details [S1][S6].
  • Registration date. myAir can begin receiving data from your machine on the day you set up your account, and does not get data your machine recorded before that [S4]. If you registered today, ResMed says your therapy data will be available after your first night using the machine following your registration date [S1].
  • Where you bought it. The AirSense 10 manual says therapy data might not be sent if you use the machine outside the country or region of purchase [S7]. A ResMed help page adds that devices from other regions may not be supported locally [S6].
  • Sleeping through noon. The machine records therapy data from noon one day to noon the next. If you sleep through noon, it splits the data across two days [S2]. ResMed gives this as a reason myAir can show less use than you had.

If you use a machine from another manufacturer, we have not quoted its app here. We could not confirm its causes from an official page. Check your manufacturer's own help page.

What to check, in order

  1. If you registered today, your data will be available after your first night using the machine [S1].
  2. Check that the power cord is plugged in and Airplane Mode is off [S1][S3].
  3. Check the signal bars. If the signal is weak, ResMed says you may need to move the machine to get a better signal [S1].
  4. Check that the serial on your machine matches the one registered in myAir [S1][S6].
  5. Keep the machine powered on for at least an hour after you wake up [S1][S3].
  6. If the power cord has been plugged in all along, ResMed says to unplug it for 40 seconds and plug it back in, which resets the machine [S1][S6].
  7. Use the machine as usual and check myAir the next day [S1].
  8. If you have done these checks, used the machine for one night and still see no data in myAir, ResMed says to contact your home medical equipment provider [S1].

Reading your nights from the SD card

Some ResMed machines have an SD card slot. The AirSense 10 manual says the machine records your therapy data and sends it to your care provider wirelessly when a wireless network is available, or via an SD card [S7]. For data that has not been sent, its troubleshooting table says the SD card also contains your therapy data [S7]. The manual also says not to remove the card while the SD light is flashing, because data is being written to it [S7]. ResMed also says myAir collects therapy data wirelessly, independent of the data stored on the SD card [S5].

AirwayLab reads the card in your browser, on your device. You do not need an account to analyse a card. For card steps, see how to download CPAP data from the SD card or the device guides. If you use a ResMed machine, the AirSense 10, AirSense 11 and AirCurve posts cover the card itself.

Reading the card again

Reading your card again does not remove nights AirwayLab already holds. AirwayLab keeps one result per night date, so a night is never listed twice. A night that AirwayLab analyses again is updated with the new result. If you are signed in, AirwayLab saves the results of the nights you analyse to your account and loads them back when you open the dashboard signed in.

Other viewers

OSCAR is a free, open-source viewer that also reads the card. AirwayLab reads the card too and shows the flow waveform. See AirwayLab vs OSCAR for the differences. For what the myAir score shows and leaves out, see myAir alternative.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is last night missing from myAir?

ResMed says your machine sends data to myAir one hour after therapy stops, if it is plugged in, not in Airplane Mode and has enough mobile signal. The data can then take several hours to appear. ResMed's help pages also name switching the machine off too soon and a weak signal as reasons data does not arrive.

Does my CPAP still record if the app does not get the data?

For the ResMed AirSense 10, the user guide says the machine records your therapy data and sends it to your care provider wirelessly when a network is available, or via the SD card. For data that has not been sent, the guide says the SD card also contains your therapy data. We have not checked this for other machines.

Why does myAir show a shorter night than I slept?

ResMed says your machine records therapy data from noon one day to noon the next. If you sleep through noon, it splits the data across two days, which ResMed gives as a reason myAir can show less use than you had. ResMed says this does not affect your compliance data, the record of how much you use the machine.

Will myAir show nights from before I registered?

No. ResMed says myAir can begin receiving data from your machine on the day you set up your account, and does not get data your machine recorded before that. If you registered today, ResMed says your therapy data will be available after your first night using the machine following your registration date.

Will reading my SD card in AirwayLab duplicate nights I uploaded before?

No. AirwayLab keeps one result per night date, so reading your SD card again never lists a night twice. A night that AirwayLab analyses again is updated with the new result, and the read does not remove other nights AirwayLab already holds. If you are signed in, AirwayLab also loads the nights saved to your account when you open the dashboard.

See Your Nights From the Card

AirwayLab reads your SD card in your browser and shows each night it finds, including the flow waveform. You do not need an account to analyse a card.
